Our Robot History

Every The All Knights robot carries the decisions, experiments, setbacks, and breakthroughs of the students who built it. From our first robot in 2012 to ROBOdysseus in 2026, each season has raised the team's technical ceiling.

2026 REBUILT

ROBOdysseus

A new drivetrain, a new control system, and our most ambitious fuel cycle yet.

ROBOdysseus is the first The All Knights robot built on a Kraken-powered SDS swerve drivetrain and CTRE electronics. Its expanding hopper, over-the-bumper intake, dual fixed flywheels, and Limelight vision system are designed to collect fuel quickly and shoot accurately from across the field.

The 2026 season also marked the first individual award nominations in team history: Aydan M. for the FIRST Leadership Award and Cate Sullivan for the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award.

Built to solve a different problem every year

2025

Nemo

REEFSCAPE

Nemo's 72-inch elevator scored coral at every reef level, while computer vision automatically aligned the robot from any starting position. A five-student team, with only one returning student, carried it all the way to two event finals.

Johann Sebastian Bot

CRESCENDO

A floor intake, flywheel shooter, and vision alignment helped Johann Sebastian Bot play fast across the field. Pneumatic climbers gave the robot an endgame option, while a two-note autonomous routine opened each match.

2023

First Swerve Season

CHARGED UP

Our first swerve-drive robot paired a long two-joint arm with AprilTag vision. It scored cones and cubes, automatically aligned to field targets, and developed a near-perfect record of balancing on the charge station.

2022

Rapid React

Alliance captain at the Arizona Valley Regional, Creativity Award recipient, and Arizona State Championship qualifier.

2020–21

Engineering through disruption

When events were cancelled during the pandemic, the team expanded its computer vision, trajectory planning, REV NEO motor, and 3D-printing experience.

2019

Succrates

A mecanum-drive robot with a vacuum game-piece system and an Arizona State Championship qualification.

2017

Fast cycles and a finals run

Our STEAMWORKS robot used omnidirectional drive and a custom welded chain climber to finish as an Arizona State Championship finalist.

2016

Aluminatus

Creativity Award at the Arizona West Regional and qualification for the Arizona State Championship.

2013

Our first blue banner and first trip to Worlds

Phoenix Regional winner, followed by the team's first FIRST Championship appearance in St. Louis.

2012

The first The All Knights robot

Team 3944 entered the FIRST Robotics Competition and began a tradition that continues at Tempe Prep today.

Official season records are available on The Blue Alliance. Arizona State Championship and Arizona Robotics League results are offseason achievements and are identified separately from official FIRST awards.

A bridge for younger builders

TPA VEX Robotics, 2014–2022

Tempe Prep's VEX teams, 9014A and 9014B, gave middle-school students a smaller-scale competition experience. Team 9014A won the 2015–2016 Arizona Middle School State Championship. When the VEX program ended in 2022, The All Knights opened FRC participation to seventh- and eighth-grade students, who continue to learn and compete alongside the high school team.
